Theft
The most common types of theft include retail theft, general theft, identity theft. 720 ILCS 5/161. Retail theft can either be charged as a felony or a misdemeanor. Value of property over $300 means it is a felony charge. Retail theft can be a scary charge, involving jail time or prison. Robbery/Burglary
720 ILCS 5/18-1. Robbery is when you steal property from someone. There are several types of robbery and the type depends on if you used a weapon or threatened to use one.
Arson
720 ILCS 5/20-1. Setting fire to someone else’s property that has a value over of $150 or more, without permission from all owners of that property.
White Collar Crime
720 ILCS 5/33. White collar crime includes acts that use deception to gain something, whether it be money, services, property, or some other advantage. Examples include tax fraud, extortion, credit card fraud, identification theft, and money laundering.
